Went for an adventure with Ellen today,of course it involved antique sales. No malls for us,I need new shoes but that was not on the agenda! I was up at 530 emptying my car, getting ready to fill it. As I was doing this, the hail and then snow came down, making everything slippery and the job difficult. Striper stuck his nose out and ran back to bed, smart boy.
Picked Ellen up at 700 and off we went. Had a nice chat on the drive and we got to our destination to get in line for an hour. No problem!
Had fun at the first stop and then went searching for a few sales. The pictures that follow are my purchases for the day. Not tons of stuff but when it all gets put together,it looks great. I love the floral covers on the books and the handpainted flowers on the plates. The toile I will use for upholstery and the bee charmer sign is for my sister Barb.We love that line in "Fried Green Tomatoes." All in all a good day.
This last picture shows my effort at making emery pincushions for needles.I bought emery sand online,it is the filling, and keeps the needles sharp.I made the pink velvet strawberries and then filled them. They are a throwback to pioneer times, when needles were very valuable and were kept sharp and dry in these little treasues. They were so much work,I may have to give them as gifts!
First event of the season coming up,see my last blog.
