A Saturday Shopping Jaunt

Went for an adventure with Ellen today,of course it involved antique sales. No malls for us,I need new shoes but that was not on the agenda! I was up at 530 emptying my car, getting ready to fill it. As I was doing this, the hail and then snow came down, making everything slippery and the job difficult. Striper stuck his nose out and ran back to bed, smart boy.
Picked Ellen up at 700 and off we went. Had a nice chat on the drive and we got to our destination to get in line for an hour. No problem!
Had fun at the first stop and then went searching for a few sales. The pictures that follow are my purchases for the day. Not tons of stuff but when it all gets put together,it looks great. I love the floral covers on the books and the handpainted flowers on the plates. The toile I will use for upholstery and the bee charmer sign is for my sister Barb.We love that line in "Fried Green Tomatoes." All in all a good day.
This last picture shows my effort at making emery pincushions for needles.I bought emery sand online,it is the filling, and keeps the needles sharp.I made the pink velvet strawberries and then filled them. They are a throwback to pioneer times, when needles were very valuable and were kept sharp and dry in these little treasues. They were so much work,I may have to give them as gifts!

First event of the season coming up,see my last blog.

Hello there,I was having trouble signing in and I found a whole page of comments from followers.I was shocked...I have followers. Please forgive me for not responding,as this is not an easy site to maneuvre. I can barely sign in!
I have a list of antique shows that I am doing in May and June.Hope you can make them.

Fri. May 3rd 11 -7, Sat. May 4th  10-4,The "Linen Ladies" are having their 51st show! It is called the Greensville Antique show and sale.
Google it for location or email  j-jantiques@sympatico.ca

Next is Aberfoyle's,special Sat. sale May 11, 8-4. There is a special Saturday sale 2 times a year. This is a nice sale. Check it out at  www.aberfoyleantiquemarket.com

Then I do a 2 Saturdays in a row sale at my friend's in Niagara on the Lake. It is a garden and antique sale in her backyard, which is like a paradise. Sat.May 18 and Sat.May 25 10-3.Check out Hilary's site at www.itcanbearranged.com

Then in Niagara on the Lake we are starting a new antique market, same day as the successful Farmer's market, right next to the Shopper's Drug Mart plaza at Niven Rd. and Hwy 55. It is June 1st. 8 -1.It will be the first Sat. every month ,then in Sept.it is the 2nd Sat.due to Christie. This is the first year, come out and see our great stuff.
So of course I have been getting ready. Here I was trying to iron 10 yards of gorgeous vintage cotton, and Striper was trying to help!

I was doing some re-upholstery and I did a sweet "French Provincial" stool from the 50's over with neat fabric that looks like the old grain sacks. It is "Passport stamp" fabric,a new linen fabric and very nice to work with, gorgeous.Check it out,it will be at Aberfoyle.

As it was Easter recently I did my urns at the front door. They were frozen for ages,I took a picture but I must have been crooked as you will see.

OK everything has been a struggle tonight,so that is the end today.I think I know how to see comments,so I will check again. I have been saving wonderful things for these upcoming shows. Any questions just email me at my regular email   b.munkley@distributel.net  Hope to see you at one or more of these events!
